RO received his training at The Art Students League of NY and The Sculpture Center, located in NYC. He then went on to spend 2 years as a stone mason on Grace Church, a magnificent Gothic-style church located in lower Manhattan built in the early 1840’s. The skills and techniques that he gained as an artist and stone mason carried over into his home furnishings design. Steel, artisanal glass, wood and fabric are the predominant materials present in his art and home decor. RO is also involved in public art projects, spanning the East and West Coast. Whether it is his own or contributing to the work of fellow artists, public art will remain a main focus for him.

What drives RO? From his early childhood he has held a deep fascination for the inner mechanisms of things and people. How does it work? Where did it originate from? What is his motivation? Why did she do that instead of this? Such fascination is intrinsic to his work. As he likes to say, “what lies just below the surface? I won’t know unless I see it for myself.”
